Coach Aubrey's Bio

We are excited to welcome Coach Aubrey Thorburn to the DIG Family! Aubrey attended Texas Woman's University and began coaching volleyball in 2016 with Dallas Juniors. In 2019 she moved to Texas Assault and also became the head varsity volleyball coach at Dallas Academy. Aubrey’s resume includes coaching 12s, 13s, and 18s, with successful tournament wins to qualify her team for Regionals and a 5th place finish at the Lonestar Classic in the American Division. Coach Aubrey also served as the Youth Development Director at Texas Assault.

Coach Aubrey finds her biggest strengths in celebrating personal and team successes and learning to coach each player differently based on their needs.

Favorite core value at DIG

RESPECT is her favorite core value as it is huge in and out of the gym. When her team is in the gym, she expects continuous respect towards themselves, other players, coaches, parents, refs, line judges, etc. When players respect one another the team will bond better, when girls bond well, they are more likely to see successful results. She loves to get her team FIRED UP by being their biggest cheerleader and bringing her high energy personality when they are on the court.

Personal

In her spare time, she enjoys working on things around her house, going on walks around White Rock Lake, and hanging out with her pups- Pixie & Potato.

Jaylyn Capito

Coach Jaylyn's Bio

DIG Volleyball is excited to welcome Jaylyn “Jay” Capito to the coaching staff this year. Coach Jay previously coached at Assault and has coached athletes of all ages. Her roles included coaching 18’s, 13’s (twice) and 14’s. She is excited to assist Coach Aubrey and lead the 12 Black team to lots of growth and development this season.

Coach Jay played in college at Mountain View College for two years and was a six rotation outside hitter her first year, and played libero her second year. She left her volleyball career to pursue her professional career in medicine.

Favorite core value at DIG

Coach Jay’s favorite core value is EFFORT. She loves this core value because it doesn’t involve natural ability, height or speed. Effort can be given by anyone at any time and it’s the athletes personal choice to give effort (or not). She believes she inspires athletes to work their hardest and give their best effort by being positive and encouraging them to accomplish more than they think they can.

Personal

In her spare time, Coach Jay enjoys traveling, trying new foods, and being in or near water. She enjoys shopping, spa days, manicures and pedicures as well!

Coach Justin's Bio

Coach Justin is going on his fifth season with DIG and could not imagine coaching anywhere else. Coach Justin is a proud graduate of Texas A&M University and has three years of college playing as a middle blocker and continues to play in adult leagues now.

Coach Justin had a very successful year last season with his 13 Blue team, qualifying the team for Regionals.

Justin enjoys coaching young athletes because he believes creating a strong foundation is necessary for later success. He believes that creating a foundation for skills as well as teaching athletes at a young age to work hard creates lifetime habits. Justin also teaches high school Geometry and loves to see his students find a love for math during their high school careers.

Favorite core value at DIG

RESPECT is the core value that Justin loves the most. “You have to respect your teammates to the point of trusting them to do their job on their court. Without respect, the team collapses and the chance for victory slips away,” Justin states.  Respect is critical off the court as well as more people gravitate to respectful people.

Personal

Justin enjoys hanging out with friends when he’s not teaching or coaching. He also plays volleyball whenever he can and loves to relax and watch TV when he has down time.
